What is Fortnite Betting?

While Fortnite betting is not currently as big as some esports titles, it’s surely only a matter of time.

Since exploding onto the scene in 2017, “Fortnite” from Epic Games has become a gaming and cultural phenomenon in just a few short years. Boasting over 350 million players – with peaks of up to 15m players logging in at any one time – the king of the battle royale genre also attracts millions of eager spectators as they watch their favourite YouTube or Twitch personality demonstrating their skills.

Available as a free-to-play game on all console platforms, PC and Android devices, Fortnite’s success is thanks to an irresistible combination of features. Competitive online “Battle Royale” gameplay sits alongside kid-friendly aesthetics, celebrity tie-ins (including Drake and Travis Scott) and a constantly evolving gameplay format.

This impressive checklist of features and it’s dominance of Streaming platforms means that fortnite is perfectly positioned to become the next big thing in esports betting. Make sure you’re ready to take advantage of Fortnite esports betting opportunities by checking out this Fortnite betting guide, including our handpicked selection of the best Fortnite betting sites.

How Fortnite is Played

Fortnite Battle Royale

Fortnite gives you multiple game modes to choose from. However by far the most popular is the Battle Royale mode. In Battle Royale the objective is simple: be the last player standing.

At the start of each round 100 players parachute down onto a single map, which consists of a number of different regions, landmarks and small built-up areas. Players are able to steer their parachute towards the region they want to land in. Once landed – it’s a race to scavenge as much loot (in the form of weapons and building materials) as possible. Players can use weapons to eliminate other players from the game, while materials such as wood can be used to build defensive structures.

As the round progresses and players are eliminated, the map gets gradually smaller, forcing the remaining players to engage with one another in combat.

Fortnite Seasons

While the core mechanics of Battle Royale mode never change, Fortnite is constantly evolving. Each new season of Fortnite ushers in a fresh round of updates to the game, which may include changes to the map, new weapons or new gameplay mechanics.

Fortnite World Cup

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, the last Fortnite World Cup took place in July 2019. However when it returns, it’s likely to be one of the most exciting ways to bet on Fortnite esports!

The 2019 Fortnite World Cup finals were held in New York City in front of 19,000 live spectators and with a prize pool of $30million. Finalists secured their place via online qualifiers involving 40million players from over 200 countries. The event, which included a competition for solo players and duos, was watched by millions online, with a peak viewership of 2.3million during the solo finals.

Fortnite Champions Series

Just because there is no Fortnite World Cup in 2021 doesn’t mean that Fortnite is left without a thriving esports scene. Epic Games curate a vast network of competitive Fortnite events and official Fortnite tournaments.

All players can take part in “Arena” games and earn “Hype”. The more “Hype” a player earns, the higher they will climb in the Arena divisions and leagues. Doing so opens up opportunities to compete in events for rewards or participate in cash prize tournaments.

Forntie’s flagship tournament series is the Fortnite Champions Series (FNCS) and is open only to champion rank players. Like Fortnite itself, FNCS is based on seasons and there are currently multiple tournaments held over the course of the year, with price pools of around $3million. The exact tournament format changes from season to season, with the current emphasis on players coming together to compete in teams of two or three.

Fortnite Betting Options

With the Fortnite betting scene still in its infancy, it’s likely we’ve only seen a snapshot of the markets that will eventually be on offer when betting on fortnite. In the short term, the most popular Fortnite betting options are likely to be the following:

Match Winner – A bet on which team, or individual, will win a single Fortnite tournament match.

In-Play Betting – An in-play bet on which team, or individual, will win a Fortnite tournament match. Attractive in-play betting odds may be available for those willing to take a risk!

Tournament Winner / Outright Winner – A bet on which team, or individual will win a Fortnite Tournament.

How to Choose the Best Fortnite Betting Sites

We think that Fortnite esports betting has bags of potential. However at this moment in time there are not many betting sites offering regular betting markets for Fortnite. The best Fortnite betting sites in the short term will be the ones who make the first significant moves into Fortnite betting. We’ll be sure to update this page regularly as and when that happens.

In the meantime, we’ve rounded up a selection of hand-picked esports betting sites below – each with fantastic introductory offers, competitive odds and a wide range of markets. We highly recommend checking them out as they are sure to be offering competitive Fortnite betting odds in the near future.

Successful Fortnite Betting Tips

Watch the very best players on Twitch – Fortnite regularly tops the Twitch popularity charts and many competitive players are also Twitch or YouTube streamers. There’s no better way to understand the game and winning strategies than by watching the best players in action. It’s also great fun!

Keep up with updates + new mechanics – Both within Fortnite in general and the official esports tournaments, new seasons mean new updates to maps, gameplay and more. Be sure to keep up-to-date with changes to Fortnite so that you can make better-informed bets.

Beware of random elements – Remember that elements such as loot are randomly generated in Fortnite. While all sports have an element of chance, simulation games such as FIFA and even casual games like Rocket League do not randomly distribute weapons, loot and power-ups.

Teams vs Solo Players – Consider what you’ve seen in matches that feature competitive teams versus those played by solo players. It could be that the top-performing teams are less likely to lose due to bad luck with randomised items, or individual mistakes.

Practise Responsible Betting – Always remember that betting should be fun. You should never bet more than you can afford. See more at BeGamebleAware
